State police at Fern Ridge - crashes

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following crashes:

• Thomas L. Modrak, 21, of Saylorsburg, was cited after a one-vehicle crash at 11:32 a.m. Dec. 23 on Route 715 in Chestnuthill Township. No one was injured in the incident.

Police said he was driving a 2015 Honda CRV but did not provide the details of the crash.

• Tyler J. Santiago, 28, of Kunkletown, was injured after a one-vehicle crash at 7:52 a.m. Dec. 17 on Greenview Drive, Chestnuthill Township.

Police said he was driving a 2017 Hyundai Elantra eastbound when it slid off the right side of the roadway while negotiating a curve and struck a large tree.

Police said Santiago was transported by personnel from the Lehigh Valley Health Network EMS corps to a local hospital.

Santiago was cited for driving while his operating privileges are suspended or revoked, police said.

• A 3-year-old boy from East Stroudsburg was injured when a tree smashed through the windshield of the vehicle in which he was an occupant at 2:47 p.m. Dec. 19 on Arlene Drive, Chestnuthill Township.

Police said he was transported by personnel from the Lehigh Valley Health Network EMS corps to an area hospital.

They said the incident occurred when Justin P. Wiesner, 29, of East Stroudsburg, was driving a 2021 Volkswagen westbound and the tree fell on top of the vehicle.

The driver and another passenger, Lizette M. Garcia, 22, also of East Stroudsburg, were uninjured.

• Daniel A. Hall, 46, of Effort, was cited after a two-vehicle crash at 7 p.m. Dec. 12 at the intersection of Route 115 and Weir Lake Road, Chestnuthill Township. No one was injured in the incident.

Police said he was driving a 2018 Jeep Wrangler when he stopped at the intersection and failed to yield to oncoming traffic while turning onto Route 115. They said the Wrangler was hit by a southbound 2005 Acura operated by Alvaro Rodriguez, 31, of Effort.

Police said the Wrangler had functional damage, while the Acura had disabling damage and was towed from the scene.

• A 14-year-old girl from Effort was injured in a crash involving a dirt bike and a Jeep at 1:50 p.m. Dec. 29 on Toll Road, Chestnuthill Township.

Police said the severity of her injuries is unknown. She was transported by personnel from the Lehigh Valley Health network EMS corps to the Lehigh Valley Hospital Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg.

They said the crash occurred as she was operating a 2000 125cc dirt bike south on Toll Road when she lost control of it. The bike slid into the opposite lane, falling onto its right side as it traveled across both lanes, striking a 2018 Jeep Cherokee driven by Kevin P. Burke, 59, of Effort.
