Attorney George Shutack was given the title of “solicitor emeritus” by the Lehighton Water Authority during its annual reorganizational meeting held last night in the municipal building.

Atty. Shutack served as solicitor for the authority for 32 years but declined acceptance to the position this year because he is retiring.

The lawyer was praised by Chairman Gordon T. Bennett, who told Shutack, “Many times you’ve steered the ship through some rough tides. You did a good job.”

Named to succeed him was Attorney John Deutsch, who is also the solicitor for the borough council.

Bennett was retained as authority chairman; William Green, vice chairman; George Bibighaus, secretary; Charles Lusch, treasurer; and Carlos Teets, assistant treasurer.
