Jim Thorpe defeated Moravian Academy in both boys and girls basketball action on Tuesday.
The win for the Lady Olympians was their first of the season.

Cole Lazorick poured in a game-high 31 points, and Brody Schrantz scored eight of his 13 points in the final quarter to help push Jim Thorpe past winless Moravian Academy, 61-58, in Colonial League action.
Lazorick, who drilled five three-pointers, scored eight points in the third to give the Olympians a 46-38 cushion heading into the fourth frame.
The winners also received 14 points from Pierce Gothard, while Sam Joseph led Moravian Academy with 20 points.

Alphy Deris scored 19 of his game-high 24 points in the second half to lead Dieruff to a 64-51 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over host Pleasant Valley.
The two teams were tied 27-27 at halftime before the Huskies took control in the third quarter.
Sebastian Sacci paced the Bears with 20 points, while Jake Loch added 15 and Jaxson Haines chipped in with 11.

Jim Thorpe posted its first win of the season, gaining a 39-27 Colonial League victory over host Moravian Academy.
The win snapped a 10-game losing streak for the Olympians.

Williams Valley-Marian
A balanced attack helped Williams Valley earn a 48-28 Schuylkill League Division 2 win over Marian.
Mallory Miller connected for three three-pointers on her way to a game-high 14 points for the Vikings, who stretched their win streak to six games.
Teammate Presley Shomper hit double figures with 11 points, while Ella Kobularik and Quin Smeltz each contributed 10.
The Fillies, who faced a 19-6 deficit after the first quarter, received nine points from both DeAnna Pugh and Haley Minzola. Addy Marek chipped in with seven.

Tri-Valley-Weatherly
Tri-Valley ended a five-game losing skid, as the Bulldogs pulled away from host Weatherly for a 45-30 Schuylkill League Division 2 win.
Avery Miller netted a game-high 20 points for the winners, which also included a perfect 6-for-6 mark at the foul line in the third quarter.
Tri-Valley’s Ava Snyder finished with 14 points, 12 of them coming in the second half.
Maci Kane hit three of her four three-pointers in the first half, as the Wreckers trailed only 18-14 at halftime. Kane ended with a team-high 16 points.

Lehighton won its last six bouts, but the Indians fell just short to Saucon Valley, 31-30, in a Colonial League match.
Evan Wentz (152), Konner Nalesnik (160), Carter Hontz (172), Preston DiGrazia (189), Asher Taylor (215) and Marc Macias (285) recorded consecutive victories that brought Lehighton back from a 31-6 deficit.
Michael D’Amico (121) and Hontz (172) each registered pins, and Macias netted a forfeit for the Indians.

Tamaqua won every match that were contested, but fell to Allen due to too many forfeits.
The Blue Raiders registered four pins, however the score ended 30-30 and the Canaries were declared the winner on criteria.
Kaitlyn Rivera posted the quickest fall, decking her opponent at 118 pounds in 22 seconds. Addison Trunk added a first-period pin at 106, while Zania Braewell (170) and Jalissa Correa (124) also both recorded falls.

North Schuylkill-Marian
North Schuylkill swept Marian in Schuylkill League action.
The Spartans posted a 98-48 win over the Colts, while the Fillies fell by a 107-54 score.
Michael Strucko paced the Marian boys, winning both the 200 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. He also swam a leg on Marian’s winning 400 free relay.
Kasey Evert (200 free, 500 free) and Lydia Strucko (100 fly, 100 breaststroke) both had multiple firsts for the Fillies, while Meah Solnoki earned a first place in the 100 backstroke.
Reece Steibler tied with the Spartans’ Nicholas Weremedic for first in the 50 freestyle.

Tamaqua knocked off Panther Valley 48-34.
Jermaine Thomas finished with a team-high 14 points for the Blue Raiders, while Jaedon Vidzicki added 12.
The Panthers’ Jackson posted a game-high 16 points.

Panther Valley posted a 60-31 win over Marian.
The Panthers’ Brian McLaughlin led all scorers with 12 points, while Cooper Lynn and Kale Koerbler both added 10.
