Alysha Hartshorn, 37, Tamaqua, was jailed on charges related to abusing her children.
According to Tamaqua police, officers were called to 6:43 p.m. Jan. 3 disturbance on the 500 block of Washington Street. Police said Hartshorn, her husband, and three of Hartshorn’s children were outside.
Police spoke to the children who said that Hartshorn was being abusive toward them.
A 6-year-old boy said Hartshorn stuck her fingers inside his mouth and began to pull him up the steps. Police said the boy’s mouth was lacerated and bleeding.
A 9-year-old girl said that Hartshorn hit her in the face with a shoe she had thrown, and pulled her hair, and a 10-year-old girl said Hartshorn threw a vape at her and hit her arm, and also pulled her hair.
The husband said the abuse had been an ongoing issue over the last few days with Jan. 3 being the worst.
Police spoke to Hartshorn to get her side of the story and she said, “They told you: My story is the same,” referring to the children’s accounts.
She was taken into custody and charged with simple assault and harassment.
She was sent to prison in lieu of $20,000 percentage bail.
