Tamaqua woman charged after injuring officer

Tamaqua police are charging Christina Donner, 21, Coaldale, with resisting arrest, simple assault, criminal mischief and aggravated assault following a 2 p.m. Dec. 24 incident where she injured an officer and broke his glasses.

According to police, officers and the department’s mental health co-responder were sent to the unit block of West Howard Avenue to take Donner into custody on a 302 warrant.

Donner was asked to exit her home, and she stood on her porch where officers told her that they were going to take her to the hospital on the warrant.

According to officers, Donner told police she was not leaving and forcefully resisted being taken into custody.

Police said she dropped to the ground in an attempt to stop officers from handcuffing her, then attempted to kick, scratch and bite the officers.

Police said Donner continued to forcefully resist arrest for 10 minutes. She then grabbed one of the officer’s glasses and damaged them. She also kicked the body camera from the front of his uniform, then scratched his face and head.

Police said he suffered a bleeding laceration and multiple scratches, along with a hand injury.

According to police, an ambulance was requested and Donner said she would “kick them all in the face.” She also cursed first responders and said, “You’re gonna die.”

Police said she was sedated, placed in the ambulance and transported to St. Luke’s Miners Campus in Coaldale.
