Prudenti continues as West Penn chairman

Anthony “Tony” Prudenti will remain chairman of the West Penn Township board of supervisors.

Prudenti resumed the role during Monday’s reorganization meeting, after a nomination by supervisor Kyle Kester and a second by incoming supervisor Tom Ackerman.

Kester was appointed as vice chairman and Ackerman will serve as supervisor at large.

Before the meeting began, Prudenti welcomed Ackerman, who won the seat in the November general election. Former supervisor Glenn Hummel did not seek reelection and was thanked for his service in December.

“We are very pleased to have him with us,” Prudenti said. “Tom, thank you so much.”

The board voted to hold morning meetings at 8:30 a.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the township building with the exception of the May meeting, which will be held May 18 at the annex building. The evening meetings will be held at 6 p.m. on the first Monday of each month except for the September meeting, which will be held Sept. 8.

Supervisors were appointed to oversee a number of departments, with Prudenti as the head of administration; Ackerman leading the road department and Kester in charge of the police department.

For the township’s administration, Karen Wittig will return as treasurer, chief of pension administration and alternate Right-to-Know officer; and Katie Orlich will continue as township secretary, Right-to-Know officer and secretary of the planning department and property and maintenance department. Herb Woodring was appointed as assistant to the board of supervisors.

Jeremy Frable was reappointed as roadmaster, and Margaret Baba will be in charge of cleaning of the office, annex and Morgan Park.

Sal Digilio, Isaac Lorah, Jason Frable, Justin Frable, Michael Kunkel and Carl Paisley will continue full-time appointment with the township road crew.

The police department will be led by Chief Jason Lorah with full-time officers John Kaczmarczyk and Glenn Laninger. Kaczmarczyk was promoted to the rank of lieutenant. Part-time officers will be Shawn Kistler, Dane O’Brien, Tom Rodgers and William Cope.

Paul Datte will continue as solicitor, and ARRO Consulting will serve as township engineer, code enforcement officer, zoning officer and Uniform Construction Code (UCC) administrator. Lehigh Consulting will also serve as UCC administrator.

Bill Brior was appointed as sewage enforcement officer, with Robert Fugate as alternate.

Jeff Bradford will resume his role as chief of the West Penn Fire Department, with assistant chiefs Brandon Bradford and Rick Mertz.

Tim Phillips will be the emergency management coordinator with Shawn Phillips as assistant.
