How our legislators voted
A look at how our state lawmakers voted on recent bills:
House Bill 274
An Act amending the act of Dec. 5, 1936, known as the Unemployment Compensation Law, in compensation, further providing for qualifications required to secure compensation and for ineligibility for compensation, providing for eligibility related to domestic violence and further providing for rate and amount of compensation.
The bill amends the Unemployment Compensation Law to make it easier for domestic violence survivors to receive benefits if they are forced to quit working in situations where continued employment would jeopardize their safety. The bill would create an “express lane” for claimants impacted by domestic violence and allow a domestic violence survivor to confidentially submit reasonable evidence of recent domestic violence.

The proceedings may be ended within 15 days if the position of chairman is vacant, and the two remaining board members publicly vote to disband after providing their justification as to why they cannot fill a vacancy.
