State police at Lehighton - crashes
State police at the Lehighton barracks reported the following crashes:
• Angelina Hernandez, 37, of Tamaqua, had suspected minor injuries after a one-vehicle crash at 5:47 p.m. on Dec. 26 on Pohopoco Drive, Towamensing Township.
Police said she was transported by personnel from the Palmerton Community Ambulance Association to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township.
She was driving a 2025 Ford Explorer southbound when it slid off the road and struck a guide rail, police said. The vehicle had disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
Hernandez was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed, according to police.
• A 17-year-old Kunkletown boy was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 9:24 a.m. on on Dec. 29 on Koch Road, Towamensing Township.
Police said he was driving a 2019 Nissan Altima southbound and was traveling too fast for icy and wet conditions when he lost control of the car. It left the roadway and struck a tree.
Police said he vehicle had disabling damage.
• A 2022 Hyundai Kona was towed from the scene of a crash at 12:49 a.m. on Dec. 27 on Route 209 in Mahoning Township.
Police did not identify the driver, who was uninjured.
They said the vehicle was northbound when it went it of control and struck a rock wall during snowy conditions. It was towed the scene.
Police said the driver was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.
• No one was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 7:09 p.m. on Dec. 26 on Polk Township Road, Polk Township.
Police said the crash occurred as Andy Ha, 41, of Woodbury, New Jersey, was driving a 2024 Toyota Highlander westbound when he lost control of it while negotiating a left curve in the snow-covered road. The vehicle struck a left arrow sign and boulder before overturning onto its side. It was towed from the scene.
• Joseph T. Roble, 21, of Kunkletown, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a one-vehicle crash at 7:45 a.m. on Dec. 28 on Serfass Road, Polk Township. He was uninjured in the incident.
Police said he was driving a 2016 Subaru Legacy eastbound when he lost control of it and struck an embankment and utility pole.
The vehicle was towed from the scene.
• Injuries were averted in a two-vehicle crash at 6:07 p.m. on Dec. 28 on Route 248 in Bowmanstown Borough.
Police said the crash occurred when Fatir Murtaza, 38, of Coplay, was driving a 2023 Mazda westbound and began to lose control of it. The vehicle struck the concrete divider and entered the right lane, where it struck a 2026 Chevrolet Equinox operated by Linda M. Flynn, 61, of Catasauqua.
Police said both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Murtaza was cited for after the crash, according to police.
