Jorge Martinez Jr., 55, and Marilyn Delvalle, 49, both of Philadelphia, had possible injuries after a one-vehicle crash at 6:47 a.m. on Dec. 27 on Route 54 in Rush Township, police said.

State police at the Frackville barracks said the two were transported by personnel from the Ryan Township Emergency and Rescue Squad to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Miners Campus, Coaldale.

The crash occurred as Martinez was driving a 2025 Jeep Cherokee eastbound when he failed to negotiate a right curve in the road and the Jeep struck a detour sign and utility pole, police said. The Jeep had disabling damage.

Martinez was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed, police said.
