Walnutport is accepting applications for another full-time police officer.
The Walnutport Police Department posted on its Facebook page that applicants must be 21 years of age or older to apply, must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license, high school diploma or equivalent, and before appointment, must have successfully completed an Act 120 Academy and be capable of MPOETC certification.
As part of the Civil Service process, candidates are required to pass a written test, oral interview and thorough background check. Competitive wage and benefit package offered.
Applications may be obtained at the Walnutport Police Department, 417 S. Lincoln Ave., between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Those who are unable to pick up an application between those times may contact the police department who will arrange a day and time to pick up the application.
The completed application must be submitted to the Walnutport Police Department by 3 p.m. on Jan. 31.
Applicants claiming veterans’ preference must attach a copy of their DD214 paperwork.
The written test will be administered at 9 a.m. on Feb. 14, at the Diamond Fire Company, 209 Washington St.
Earlier this month, borough council unanimously agreed to hire Paul Minnicks as a part-time officer at the rate of $29 per hour.
Currently the department has five full-time officers and three part-time officers.
