The Parkland High School boys basketball team is set for another strong season in 2025-26 after bringing back a majority of last year’s roster. Those players won the program’s fourth consecutive District 11 6A title and finished 19-10 overall and 12-4 in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference last season.
The Trojans also won two games in the state playoffs and advanced to the quarterfinal round before their season ended with a 48-30 defeat to Imhotep Charter.
Head coach Eddie Ohlson and his team are poised for another run in the postseason tournaments.
“We have an experienced team, but can we build on last year’s success?” said Ohlson. “We need to improve, and as a group we have identified areas where we can get better.”
Some of the top returning players to this year’s squad include Nas Adams, Blake Nassry, Javian Porter, Jude Ruisch, Ryan Kearney and Tyler Beck.
A couple of key newcomers expected to contribute this season include Marcus Temchatin, Zion Barrera, Tyler Brunabend and Zeke Gordner.
Ohlson talked about the strengths of his team and areas to work on.
“Our experience will be our strength,” Ohlson said. “We return the top seven guys from last year. We went through scoring droughts last year and we are trying to figure out how to work through them quicker. That will be one thing we need to improve on this season.”
Parkland opened its regular season campaign with three straight road contests.
The Trojans fell in the season opener 55-45 at Allen last Monday, Dec. 1, and then beat Freedom 69-36 on Thursday. Parkland beat Berks Catholic 53-39 Saturday in a nonconference game.
In the game with the Canaries, Parkland held a two-point lead after three quarters, but Allen outscored them 20-8 in the fourth quarter to comeback and win the game.
Blake Nassry finished with a team-high 19 points, while Marcus Temchatin also finished in double figures with 11 points. Ryan Kearney tallied six points and Nassim Adams had five.
In the victory over the Patriots, the Trojans turned a four-point lead at 16-12 after the opening quarter into a 13-point advantage (33-20) at halftime and then continued to pour it on in the fourth quarter.
Jude Ruisch led all scorers with 18 points. Nassry recorded 13 and Javian Porter added 10 points. .
