Tamaqua police log
Tamaqua police reported the following incidents:
• Police charged Luis Morales, 33, Tamaqua, following domestic incidents that occurred on Dec. 21 and Dec. 28.
He was jailed after the second incident.
On Dec. 21, officers were called to a home on the 100 block of Penn Street for a domestic fight and spoke the victim, who had blood on her left temple, a cut on her lip and redness around her neck.
The woman told police that she and Morales were arguing when he punched her several times and threw her to the ground. He then choked her twice before she was able to flee to a neighbor’s house. Morales followed her as a neighbor told him to stop.
Police said Morales then fought with the neighbor, causing a cut and bump on his forehead that was bleeding.
Police said Morales fled before they arrived, and the woman was given information on obtaining a Protection from Abuse order.
Police are charging Morales with harassment, simple assault and strangulation.
On Dec. 28, police returned to the residence and spoke to the woman, who said Morales struck her with an open hand. The woman had since filed for a PFA but it hadn’t been served.
Police took Morales into custody and said they found that he had a glass smoking bowl with residue in one of his pockets.
He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and simple assault and sent to Schuylkill County Prison on $15,000 cash bail.
• A Tamaqua man is free on $10,000 unsecured bail following a fight with a woman at 8:36 p.m. Dec. 21.
Tamaqua police said they were called to a home on the 400 block of East Elm Street for a possible domestic. While outside, police heard a “bang” and a woman say, “Get off me.”
Officers said a woman with blood on her face answered the door while holding a child. She told police that she and Travis Jackowski, 30, of Tamaqua, were arguing, and when she tried to leave, Jackowski grabbed her by the throat and tackled her while she was holding the child.
She kicked Jackowski to get him off her.
Police said Jackowski was uncooperative while officers attempted to speak with him, and refused to provide his name.
He was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment before Tamaqua Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer.
• A Tamaqua man who police said was having a “temper tantrum” and was lying on East Broad Street at 9:30 p.m. Dec. 20 was charged with disorderly conduct.
According to police, officers were called to the 300 block of East Broad Street for a couple arguing. Police learned that Michael Edwards, 36, Tamaqua, was following a woman and then began lying in the middle of the road to block traffic.
Officers found two at a convenience store parking lot, where they were yelling at each other. Police said they learned that they were arguing at Edwards’ house.
When the woman decided to go to her home, Edwards followed her and the tantrum ensued, police said.
Both Edwards and the woman returned to their homes after Edwards was cited.
