State police at Frackville - crashes
State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following crashes:
• Staci L. Olivencia, 58, of Kutztown, was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 8:11 p.m. on Dec. 9 at the intersection of Summer Valley and Red Dale roads in East Brunswick Township.
Police said the severity of her injuries is unknown. She was transported by personnel from the New Ringgold Ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest Campus, Salisbury Township.
Police said the crash occurred as she was driving a 2008 Nissan Altima eastbound on Red Dale Road when she failed to stop for a stop sign and entered the intersection, at which time the Altima hit the back of a 2024 Freightliner driven by Duane D. Zimmerman Sr., 60, of Orwigsburg.
Police said both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Olivencia was cited after the crash, according to police.
• No one was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 8:23 p.m. on Dec. 13 on Route 443 in East Brunswick Township.
Police said the crash occurred as a 17-year-old girl from Pottsville was driving a 2015 Ford Focus westbound when it hit a pile of rock salt in the roadway.
The car had disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
Davin N. Frie, 19, of Pottsville, was a passenger in the vehicle.
• Clyde C. Holman, 73, of Barnesville, had suspected minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash at 12:15 p.m. on Dec. 14 on Back Road, Ryan Township.
Police said he did not require an emergency medical services transport from the scene.
Police said the crash involved a 2012 Jeep Patriot driven by John J. Klein, 20, of Tamaqua, and a 2023 Polaris 570 operated by Holman. They did not provide the details of the incident.
• No one was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 4:13 p.m. on Dec. 17 on Interstate 81 in Mahanoy Township.
Police said the crash occurred as Jackair Moncion Cabrera, 43, of Hazleton, was driving a 2009 Toyota RAV4 southbound when she lost control of it while rounding a curve. The vehicle spun 180 degrees and hit a guide rail. It was towed from the scene.
• Injuries were averted in a two-vehicle crash at 2:14 p.m. on Dec. 19 on Route 443 southbound in East Brunswick Township.
Police said the crash occurred when Feli Rosario-Florentino, 62, of West Lawn, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Express and Barbara A. Versailles, 77, of Tamaqua, was driving a 2016 Ford Focus.
They said a tree fell from the west side of the road and landed on the roof of the Express, causing the driver to accelerate, at which time the Express hit the back of the Focus.
Police said the Express was towed from the scene.
• Melanie V. Phillips, 27, of Freeland, was uninjured in a second crash minutes after the latter crash on Dec. 19 in the same approximate area on Route 443 in East Brunswick Township.
Police said she was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Impala that hit a tree that had fallen due to high winds. The car slid off the right side of the road and struck a dirt embankment. It was towed from the scene.
• Michelle M. Petrylak, 60, of Shenandoah, had suspected minor injuries after a one-vehicle crash at 7:03 p.m. on Dec. 19 on Mahanoy City Road, Mahanoy Township.
Police said she was transported by personnel from the Ryan Township Emergency and Rescue Squad to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-East, Pottsville.
Police said the crash occurred when she was driving a 2018 Nissan Rogue northbound and attempted to negotiate a left curve in the road that was covered with ice. The vehicle traveled off the left side of the road and struck a tree, sustaining disabling damage that required it to be towed from the scene.
A passenger in the vehicle, Kimberly Chernewski, 39, of Mahanoy City, was uninjured, police said.
• Police responded to a three-vehicle crash at 5:04 p.m. on Dec. 21 at the intersection of East Blaine and South Cleveland streets, McAdoo.
They said it involved vehicles driven by Dan Munoz De Los Santos, 24, of Hazleton; Shadeck E. Denis Urena, 28, of McAdoo; and Manuel A. Calderon, 43, of Hazleton.
Police did not provide the details of the crash and said it is unknown whether or not Munoz De Los Santos and Denis Urena were injured. They said Calderon was not hurt.
• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 2:20 p.m. on Dec. 22 at the intersection of Ardmore Avenue and Dennison Street in Rush Township.
Police said the crash occurred as Rachele M. Bonner, 61, of Tamaqua, was driving a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee north on Dennison Street when she became distracted as the vehicle turned onto Ardmore Avenue and the Jeep hit a 2024 Kia driven by William C. Kennedy, 76, of Tamaqua.
Police said the Jeep was towed from the scene.
