A new carpet factory in Lehighton and a metallurgical company in Palmerton are two new industries on the agenda of the Carbon County Industrial Development Corporation.

The Vulcan Metalurgical Corporation is presently building a new type of concrete factory between Aquashicola and Fireline, across from the Towamensing Grange in Lower Towamensing Township.

It will initially employ 10-12 people but plans a large increase within the next five years.

The Dorrer Carpet Company, presently located in Chatanooga, Tennessee, plans to occupy the firmer Duraloom Mill, Sixth and Cypress streets, Lehighton, and is seeking backing of the corporation in its efforts to secure funding for the move.
