The search for a Tamaqua man who was missing for over a decade ended this year.
In July, ATV riders came across human remains belonging to Jesse Farber.
The discovery in Walker Township ended a 10-year search for Farber.
Family, friends and law enforcement officials never gave up hope of finding Farber, who was last seen on Aug. 11, 2015, while walking on the “S curves” to Tamaqua from the New England Valley in Walker Township. He called Rachel Carroll, the mother of his children, and told her that he was being chased by coyotes. His phone then died, and he was never heard from again.
Extensive searches in the weeks and months to come revealed no signs of Farber. Organized searches continued years later, and in October, Carroll announced that remains found several months earlier by ATV riders were Farber’s.
“This is a bittersweet moment,” Carroll posted on the “Finding Jesse Farber” Facebook page. “While I am deeply grateful to finally have confirmation that the remains are Jesse’s, it’s also heartbreaking to let go of that small hope that he might still return to us someday”
News of the discovery went viral.
Thanks to so many, Carroll said, Jesse “is finally coming home.”
