Motorcycle group collects food for needy and their pets

Members of the Pocono Mountain Harley-Davidson Ownership Group once again collected food for people and pets for Christmas.

The donations went to the Salvation Army in East Stroudsburg and AWSOM Animal Shelter in Stroudsburg.

Joan Bumbulsky, a member of the Harley group, said they collected donations on Dec. 5 and 12 at Kinsley’s ShopRite in Brodheadsville. This is the eighth year for the food drive.

“We just ask for donations,” she said.

In all, the group collected 16 carts of groceries and 133 hams, which they delivered on Monday to the Salvation Army. They also collected 15 grocery bags full of dog and cat food, which they dropped off at AWSOM.

“I’m just super proud of the event,” Bumbulsky said.

The group also holds a fundraiser each summer to donate backpacks and supplies to children at the elementary schools in Monroe County.
