Trinity Happenings

Christmas Eve worship with Holy Communion by Intinction at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, is 4 p.m. Family worship with children’s sermon with candlelight, and 7 p.m. traditional candlelight service. Licensed Lay Minister Kathy Long presides.

Sunday worship with lessons and carols begin at 9:30 a.m.

Sunday School will be on winter break through Jan. 3. Classes resume Jan. 4.

Information regarding inclement weather on worship service days of other events: within two hours of the start time, a recorded message will be placed on the church phone. Delays or closings can be seen on WFMZ-TV, its website, and Trinity’s Facebook page.

Church initiatives:

The Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesdays (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting. Residents who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive supplemental food. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pickup. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.

The Thrift store is closed over the Christmas holiday, reopening Jan. 3 at 9 a.m.

Looking ahead:.

• New Year’s Day Community Dinner in Luther Hall features pork and sauerkraut. There will be a seating at noon and 1 p.m. Each seating is limited to 125 people. Dine in only; no takeout meals. Free will offering to help offset the cost of the dinner. Use Iron Street door entrance. RSVP by Dec. 29 by calling the church office. Snow date is Jan. 2.

BECC

Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, 222 North St., Lehighton, will host Sunday Morning Worship at 10:45 a.m.

Sunday Morning Christian Education will be held at 9:30 a.m. for all ages.

Coffee and snack is held at 10:15 a.m.

St. John’s

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mahoning, 826 Mahoning Dr. W., Lehighton, will hold Christ Eve worship service at 3 p.m.

Trinity Food Pantry: Food of the month is soup.

Upcoming: Worship Service, Dec. 28, 10:45 a.m. in the Sanctuary with Holy Communion. Wear your favorite funny/ugly festive Christmas shirt or sweater to church. If you don’t own one, wear red or green. It is a Lessons and Carols service. Part of the songs will be in a Hymn Sing style, where you can suggest your favorite carols to sing.

Dinkey Memorial

Dinkey Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1742 Dinkey Road, Lehighton, will hold Christmas Eve services at 5 and 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Community Cupboard: Dinkey Memorial has a food cupboard available to those in need who are members of Dinkey Memorial and St. John’s or residents of East Penn Township. The distribution is the third Thursday of every month from 3:30-5 p.m. in Dinkey’s Social Room. For more information, speak with Pastor Tony.

Christmas Eve: Services will be held at 5 and 10 p.m.
