Peter J. Flyzik of Coaldale has been appointed to a new study commission made up of coal experts.

The committee members were approved yesterday by Governor David L. Lawrence to look into methods for the modernization of anthracite mining regulations.

The governor said the commission members have been asked to review existing laws regarding the mining operations and modernize them if need be to make certain the use of modern methods and technology will insure maximum protection for miners in the anthracite industry.

By virtue of his cabinet post, State Mine Secretary Lewis Evans will serve on the commission, which is charged with making recommendations to the governor and the Legislature by 1963.
