Chestnuthill Township hosts Santa, gives treats

Santa arrived at the parking lot in style on a firetruck from the West End Fire Company, greeting all the boys and girls and giving them an opportunity before Christmas to submit their last-minute wish lists.

Those visiting Santa received free hot cocoa and cookies. Also included for the children were coloring sheets and activities.

The Girl Scouts in Pennsylvania were in attendance and having a craft activity. Also, volunteers from the Pleasant Valley National Honor Society — including Alyssa Liljeblad, Averie Acevedo and Marissa Hauck — helped hand out gifts and kept the hot cocoa and supplies in stock.

The manager of Parks and Recreation Department at Chestnuthill Township, Steve Baade added that the wreaths on display throughout the building were handmade and donated by the local Boy Scout Troop 98 and the Christmas tree behind Mr. and Mrs. Claus was donated by De Haven’s Christmas tree farm, highlighting the local entities that help make the event so special which bring it all together.
