Palmerton recognizes employees for service

Palmerton has acknowledged several employees for their years of service to the borough.

Those who were recognized by borough council on Thursday were police Detective Kevin Buck (20 years), Water Department employee William Strauch (20 years), borough clerk Christal Benninger (five years) and borough clerk Debra Whitemaine (five years).

Benninger and Whitemaine were in attendance. Buck and Strauch were not.

Council President Terry Costenbader noted that Benninger and Whitemaine were among the four members of the borough’s office staff, which also includes borough Manager Autumn Canfield, and borough secretary Kim Rodrigues.

“Those four people make the seven of us (borough council members) look really good,” Costenbader said. “I want to say thank you.”

Costenbader also noted that the meeting marked the final one for outgoing Councilman Randy Gursky.

Costenbader thanked Gursky for his tenure on council, adding that Gursky has served several different terms over the years.
