Kidder Twp. has slight tax increase

The 2026 budget was adopted at the Kidder Township Board of Supervisors December meeting, with a 0.5 mill increase. The following expenses were detailed:

• An increase for the Fire Fund.

• The amended budget included a “drastically changed (increase) contribution to the police fund,” Supervisor Raymond Gluck said

• Portable radios will be also be purchased for the police department.

• The township decided to waive the trash fee for EMS workers to encourage more workers.

• A $2,000 donation to the Carbon County Training Center was approved.

• The township’s fee schedule will remain the same as 2025.

In other business, the MG Architects proposed design for a pole barn for the garage was approved.

Officer Josh Selfie was appointed full time following his probationary period.

Supervisor Noel Torres said, “It has been a challenging year for the police department. We want to recognize the chief and his team in making it work with over 3,000 calls last year.”

Police Chief Matt Kuzma noted they are already up to 4,444 calls this year. They had 283 calls in November and issued 143 citations.

Chair Raymond Gluck’s term will end this year. Township Manager Suzanne Brooks presented him with a certificate of appreciation. Gluck said, “It was a privilege to serve the township on and off since 2006.” LORI R. COOPER/SPECIAL TO THE TIMES NEWS
