Palmerton market donates $1,000 to food pantry
A Palmerton business has made a contribution to a local food pantry.
Country Harvest Family Market in Palmerton recently donated $1,000 to the Christian Action Council of Palmerton Area Churches.
Richard Nothstein, of Country Harvest Family Market in Palmerton, noted that this year CACPAC has been buying most of its food at the store.
“We hope we meet some kind of needs for the people who are in need,” Nothstein said. “There should be no suffering, but there is.”
Nothstein said he always goes back to a lesson he that learned from his parents many years ago.
“A long time ago, my parents taught me the joy of giving,” he said. “I’m lucky enough to be able to do that.”
Susie Arner, co-director of the Palmerton Food Pantry, thanked Country Harvest for the kind gesture.
“It’s extremely generous for the donation to assist us in helping those families who are struggling,” Arner said. “Because of generous donations like this, we are able to supply those who are in need of a significant amount of food to help those families not be so insecure.”
The donation marks the second one CACPAC received within the last month.
Last month, Jim and Tiffani Christman of The Jim Christman Team presented a $1,000 check to CACPAC in advance of the annual Bo Tkach Foundation 5K Turkey Trot that was held on Thanksgiving Day.
