Lehighton Downtown hosts Vintage Christmas

The fourth annual Hometown Vintage Christmas was held Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. in downtown Lehighton.

Sponsored by the Lehighton Downtown Initiative, the event featured dozens of vendors, Christmas songs, food trucks, wagon rides, Santa in front of the borough building, lots of Christmas trees, and plenty of holiday cheer.

Event attendees braved the cold to enjoy holiday songs from Eric Stimmler, followed by Angela Nardini. Children had the opportunity to participate in free arts, crafts and games.

Sixty vendors were in attendance for the event, said Bambi Elsasser, community operations manager of LDI.

“We’re thankful for the people that came out today, and for our vendors, performers, donors and volunteers,” Elsasser said. “They make this event possible.”

LDI held a vacation raffle to restore a historic caboose that is a part of Lehighton and the surrounding Carbon County.

“We acquired the caboose in the spring and realized it needed refurbishment,” Elsasser said. Money collected from the vacation raffle are dedicated to the restoration of the caboose, preserving some of the area’s history, she added.

Home Comfort Solutions sponsored free wagon rides for event attendees. Some attendees were dressed in their best holiday garb, partaking in the various vendors and festivities to be had. The event was deemed a success, spreading holiday cheer.
