Summit Hill Borough officials last night adopted a tentative budget for 2006 that establishes a half-mill tax levy on property owners for ambulance services.
The tax is expected to generate $10,000, which will be earmarked to the Lehighton Ambulance Association.
The council discussed the dormant Summit Hill Ambulance Association’s annual $10,000 to the Lansford Ambulance Association, and said although the borough officials have requested the payment be made to the Lehighton corps instead of Lansford, the lone member of the Summit Hill corps has refused to honor that request, stating the money will continue to go to Lansford.
Council said if the $10,000 is given to Lehighton instead of Lansford, the proceeds of the tax will be held in the budget until next year.
