Penn Forest supervisors acted on the following items this month:
• The 2026 transfer station fees will not be increased. Indian Mountain Lake’s garbage exemption request was approved. A request for a garbage exemption for 14 Schoolhouse Road was declined.
• Rental of Penn’s Peak for the zoning board hearing for the proposed data center on Jan. 29, 2026, was approved at a cost of $2,500.
• The following purchases were approved: $345 for “keep back” decals and reflective strips for township vehicles,
• $948.76 for the hopper spreader, up to $1,127.37 for pothole patching,
• $223.52 for repair of the pickup cinder spreader, $198.86 for a battery for the wood chipper and $300.33 for repair of the 2017 Ford.
• Generator repair for Penn Forest Fire Company No. 1 was declined.
• Free garbage permits and refund of Municipal Earned Income Tax for Penn Forest Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 and 2 for 2025 were approved.
• Discussion of Penn Forest Township and Jim Thorpe School District’s construction of a public recreational trail was tabled.
• Dennis Habig’s resignation from the planning commission was accepted.
• The township reorganization meeting will be held on Jan. 5 at 6 p.m.
