Country artist Jimmie Allen, whose collaborative partners have included Elton John and Brad Paisley, leads the entertainment coming to local and regional entertainment over the next couple of weeks.

The “Best Shot” country singer-songwriter will bring his “Stories Behind the Songs” acoustic show to the Signature Saloon & Event Center. Allen has released three new singles this year: “Country Boys Never Learn,” “Small Town Anthem” and cover of Lady Gaga’s “Always Remember Us This Way.”

Among other fare: Mark Farner’s American Band plays Penn’s Peak, the Rock This Town Orchestra celebrates Christmas at Mauch Chunk Opera House and comedian Michal Blackson brings his brand of humor to the Musikfest Café. In addition, Disney on Ice’s latest show comes to the PPL Center.

• Mark Farner’s American Band, 8 p.m. Friday. Born in Flint, Michigan, the musician was the original singer and guitarist of the rock band Grand Funk Railroad. Farner recorded 13 studio albums with GFR, released from 1969 to 1983. GFR scored hit singles such as “We’re an American Band,” “Bad Time,” “Shinin’ On,” and covers of 1960s hits “The Locomotion” and “Some Kind of Wonderful.” Farner also has released seven solo studio albums. Glam-rock band The Sweet will also perform.

• “A Rocky Mountain Christmas,” 8 p.m. Saturday. Jim Curry performs a tribute to the late singer-songwriter John Denver. The show takes part of its name from Denver’s 1972 album and song “Rocky Mountain High.”

• The Ultimate Doors, 8 p.m. Dec. 20. The act pays tribute to rock band the Doors.

• Trixy Valentine Presents: “Drag Your Holidays,” 8 p.m. Friday. Aside from Valentine, the drag show features co-host Dante Elizabeth James, plus Divinity Cruzz, Morgan Morgan Morgan, Black Cherry and Nick O’Teen.

• Rock This Town Orchestra’s Christmas Spectacular, 8 p.m. Saturday. The Brian Setzer/Stray Cats tribute band performs Christmas classics, plus hits from the 1950s and 1960s. The orchestra takes its name from the 1981 Stray Cats hit “Rock This Town.”

• Bywater Call, 8 p.m. Dec. 20. Hailing from Toronto, Canada, the Southern soul/roots rock band released its eponymous debut album in 2019. In August 2023, the band participated in Joe Bonamassa’s third Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea Mediterranean Cruise. Bywater Call released its most recent set “Sunshine (Live in 2024)” in August.

• Christmas Burlesque & Variety Show, 8 p.m. Friday. The Steel Stilettos, based in the Lehigh Valley, will perform. The body-positive, all-inclusive group, performing for seven-plus years, features female burlesque and male “boylesque” performers, belly dance, flow art, skits, comedy and singing.

• Jimmie Allen, 7 p.m. Saturday. Born in Milton, Delaware, the country singer-songwriter released his debut studio album “Mercury Lane” in 2018. Allen, a “Dancing with the Stars” contestant in fall 2021, released his third studio set “Tulip Drive” in 2022. The singer’s hits include the country-radio No. 1s “Best Shot,” “Make Me Want To” and “Freedom Was a Highway,” the latter a duet with Brad Paisley. Allen has also collaborated with fellow country artists Dylan Scott, Ashley Cooke and Chris Tomlin.

• Midget Wrestling Christmas Party, 7:30 p.m. Dec. 22. Little Mania Wrestling presents the event.

• Disney on Ice Presents: “Road Trip Adventures,” daily through Sunday, seven shows. Mickey Mouse and friends embark on a wild ride to Disney destinations such as a safari to the Pride Lands with Simba, Aladdin’s princely parade, and a larger-than-life carnival with Woody and Forky.

• Magical Mystery Doors, 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The band combines classic compositions by the Beatles, Led Zeppelin and the Doors.

• Michael Blackson, 7:30 p.m. Dec. 18. Born in Liberia, West Africa, the actor/comedian started his stand-up career in the early 1990s in Philadelphia comedy clubs. Actor/director/rapper Ice Cube invited Blackson for a reading after seeing him perform at a Los Angeles comedy club; an appearance in the 2000 film “Next Friday” followed.

• Lotus Land, 7:30 p.m. Dec. 19 and 20. The act performs the music of Canadian rock band Rush.

• Jimmy and the Parrots: A Parrot Holiday Party, 7:30 p.m. Dec. 26. The act performs the music of singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett. Aside from Buffet’s music, Jimmy and the Parrots performs new and classic rock ‘n’ roll, as well as original songs. The band has performed at the annual Meeting of the Minds, a gathering of Buffett fans, since 1999.

• “Sister’s Christmas Catechism: The Mystery of the Magi’s Gold,” 7:30 p.m. Friday. Sister, in this “Late Nite Catechism” spin-off, teaches her class, aka the audience, about Christmas. She solves the mystery of the Wise Men’s gold via lessons, songs and audience participation to create a live Nativity. “Late Night Catechism” co-writer Maripat Donovan, Marc Silvia and Jane Morris wrote this show.

• “Christmas in the Air,” 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday. Two of Santa’s favorite elves tell the story in this Broadway-style song-and-dance variety production, which mixes classic holiday melodies and modern-day favorites.

• The Wizards of Winter, 3 p.m. Dec. 21. Formed in 2009, the progressive rock holiday band includes former members of Trans Siberian-Orchestra. The act, which takes its name from TSO’s 2004 track “Wizards of Winter,” has released four studio albums: 2011’s “Tales Beneath a Northern Star,” an eponymous 2014 set, 2015’s “The Magic of Winter” and 2019’s “The Christmas Dream.”

• Kip Moore, 8 p.m. Friday. Born in Tifton, Georgia, the singer-songwriter released his debut studio album “Up All Night” in 2012. The album spawned the hits “Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck,” “Beer Money” and “Hey Pretty Girl.” Moore, whose other hits include “More Girls Like You” and “Last Shot,” released his sixth studio set, “Solitary Tracks,” earlier this year.

• “The Nightmare Before Christmas: The Ballet,” 2 p.m. Sunday. Fusia Center for the Arts presents its winter ballet, based on the 1993 stop-motion gothic fantasy film “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

• Poconos Freestyle Takeover 2: A Freestyle Christmas, 7 p.m. Dec. 20. The lineup includes, among others, Cynthia (“Change on Me,” “Dreamboy/Dreamgirl”), Coro (“Can’t Let You Go,” “My Fallen Angel”) and TKA/K7 (“Louder Than Love,” “Come Baby Come”).

• Messiah Sing-in, 7:30 p.m. Dec. 22, Worthington Ballroom. The Shawnee Playhouse, courtesy of Charlie and Ginny Kirkwood, present a sing-in of George Frideric Handel’s 1741 oratorio “The Messiah.” The event features a professional conductor, soloists and a live orchestra.
