Driver taken to hospital after deer struck

Jasmine A. Van Camp, 20, of Hazleton, had suspected minor injuries after the vehicle she was driving hit a deer on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, state police at the Pocono barracks said.

The incident occurred at mile marker 79.2 in Franklin Township at 3:18 a.m. Nov. 30.

Police said Van Camp was transported by personnel from the Lehighton Ambulance Association to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township.

Van Camp was driving a 2025 Subaru Outback southbound when the deer entered its path and was struck, after which the car hit a barrier, crossed the travel lanes and flipped onto its roof, police said.

The Subaru was towed from the scene.
