Project Warm and Cozy event held

Caring DAM Hearts celebrated its ninth annual Project Warm & Cozy with an outpouring of community support, collecting an impressive number of coats, scarves, gloves and personal care items for those in need.

One highlight of the day was Free Pizza with a Cop, where families shared slices with local officers.

Donations were so generous that pizza lasted the entire event, thanks to contributions from Sal’s, Domino’s, D’Sopranos and Valley Pizza.

Among those greeting attendees were state police Trooper Ryan Seiple and Slatington Police Chief William Borst.

The event offered plenty of holiday cheer, including free photos with Santa, cookies and cocoa, and festive music as DJ Green Goblin kept the crowd moving with “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.”

The Rev. James Levan led a candlelight vigil and blessing of the trees, followed by a tribute honoring loved ones, military members and veterans by the local American Legion.

This was the third year for the annual Adopt-a-Tree display, which featured 25 decorated trees, each representing families, organizations or causes.

Denise Martinez, CEO and founder of Caring DAM Hearts, shared exciting news with attendees. “Caring DAM Hearts Clothing Closet and More has found a new location for our shop,” she announced.

The shop is moving to a larger location at 241 Lehigh Gap St. in Walnutport, next to the post office and across from Giant.

It was located at 7935 Route 873 in Washington Township for four years, but needed to move after a rent increase.

“We will be moving on Sunday, Dec. 14, at noon and would appreciate all the help we can get to make this move in one day,” she said.

Volunteers are asked to meet at 11 a.m. at the former store.
