The Marian and Panther Valley girls basketball teams each secured Schuylkill League wins on Tuesday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Panther Valley–Minersville

Morgan Orsulak and Caroline Breslin combined for 45 points to power Panther Valley past Minersville, 60-44, in Schuylkill League action.

Orsulak finished with 23 points, 16 rebounds and four assists, while Breslin added 22. Aliciana Aponte handed out five assists for the Panthers.

Caty Ilsley scored 10 for Minersville.

Marian–Nativity BVM

Marian stormed out to a fast start and never looked back, pulling away for a 65-13 Schuylkill League victory over Nativity BVM.

Addy Marek erupted for a game-high 33 points, hitting seven three-pointers, to lead the Fillies. DeAnna Pugh followed with 11 points, while Brooke Hannis-Miskar added seven points. Marian led 40-7 at halftime and continued to roll after the break, improving to 2-2 overall.

Emma Pinkey scored four points for Nativity, which dropped to 0-4.

Pleasant Valley-Liberty

Ava Koperskie’s 37-point performance helped Liberty roll to a 71-14 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Pleasant Valley.

Koperskie drained 15 of her game-high points in the opening quarter as the Hurricanes jumped out to a 25-3 lead.

Addy Smith connected for four three-pointers, and finished with 14 points for the winners.

The Bears received four points from both Nevaeh Allie and Amaya Fuentes.

Mahanoy Area rolled to a 57-19 Schuylkill League victory over Weatherly to stay unbeaten early in the season.

Ella Connolly had the hot hand for the Golden Bears, as she netted a game-high 23 points.

The winners also received 11 points from Felicia Bro, while Maci Kane and Cortney Snyder both tallied six points to lead Weatherly.

Quin Lucas-Bishop poured in 18 points for the Hurricanes.

Tamaqua-Pottsville

Tamaqua and Pottsville finished with a Schuylkill League split.

The Raider girls gained a 92-54 victory, while the Crimson Tide boys triumphed by a 93-48 score.

Shaylee Gormley (100 free, 200 free) and Savannah Wilson (200 IM, 100 breaststroke) both recorded multiple wins for the Lady Raiders. Wilson and Gormley also contributed to two relay wins.

Panther Valley-Weatherly

Weatherly edged Panther Valley 33-28.

The Wreckers’ Carter Minnick led all scorers with 16 points, while Yaasir Jackson paced the Panthers with seven points.

Tamaqua-North Schuylkill

Tamaqua posted a 41-23 win over North Schuylkill.

The Blue Raiders’ Ayden Kavolchick scored a game-high with 13 points, while Chayse Smith added 11 points and Tavin Makovec chipped in with 10.

Quick tallied 11 points for the Spartans.

7th Grade

Panther Valley-Weatherly

Weatherly defeated Panther Valley 27-20.

The Wreckers’ Silas Zink netted a game-high 11 points, while Matthew Ryan scored eights.

PV’s Brian McLaughlin recorded a team-high 10 points.

Tamaqua-North Schuylkill

Tamaqua earned a 30-24 victory over North Schuylkill.

The Blue Raiders’ Chayse Barron led all scorers with 16 points.

McIntyre had eight points for the Spartans.
