Carbon County Commissioners
The Carbon County commissioners acted on or discussed the following items during its meeting last week.
• Acknowledged a letter from Jim Thorpe regarding approving the county’s request to utilize Jim Thorpe Memorial Hall for the America250PA celebration event on Jan. 18.
• Rejected bids for Packer Township’s Community Development Block Grant project at the request of the office of planning and development. The reason for the action was due to funding. The project was for an ADA handicap ramp.
• Appointed John Mark Clayton of Lehighton to the Carbon-Monroe-Pike Drug & Alcohol Commission for a three-year term through Nov. 31, 2028.
• Reappointed Jack Finnegan of Lehighton to the Carbon-Monroe-Pike Drug & Alcohol Commission for a three-year term through Oct. 31, 2028.
• Ratified a contract with Lehigh Gap Exteriors of Walnutport to install gutter guards at the Lansford magisterial district office at a cost of $2,903.25.
• Tabled an agreement with Johnson Controls Fire Protection of Allentown for panic alarms and door lock systems in various county buildings until the next meeting.
• Approved a quote from Revize Web Services of Troy, Michigan, to redesign the county website to improve functionality and ensure mandatory ADA compliance. The total cost is $13,781.
• Ratified two quotes from Larry McCullion and Son of Summit Hill to install 14, 4-foot LED light fixtures in the courthouse basement at a cost of $5,900, as well as 10 GFI outlets in Josiah White Park at a cost of $9,200.
• Ratified a resolution recognizing Dr. Joseph Mussoline as the 2025 Black Diamond Award recipient.
• Adopted a resolution recognizing Harold Pudliner, Weatherly borough manager, on his upcoming retirement.
