Lehighton Borough Council
Lehighton Borough Council took the following action recently:
• Approved Utility Engineers’ substation relay replacement proposal in the amount of $135,013.
• Accepted Cintas’ FR Clothing proposal in an amount not to exceed $12,688.
• Agreed to replace the billing office envelope inserter machine at a cost of $10,941.
• Accepted Polette Glass’ proposal for door installation in the zoning office not to exceed $10,500.
• Accepted Kunkle Renovations’ proposal for interior renovations at the police station for $7,331.
• Approved a resolution for sewage enforcement fees from System Design Engineer Inc.
• Awarded a contract to Major Energy for natural gas rates, at the rate of 0.814 for 36 months.
• Hired Martina Hill as police administrative assistant, at the rate of $18 per hour, 24 hours per week.
• Accepted the letter of intent to retire from Light & Power employee Dennis Rodgers.
• Agreed to advertise in-house for two L&P Department lineman positions, and in-house for one maintenance operator for the Public Works Department.
• Agreed to dissolve the current Civil Service Commission list and approve the Civil Service Commission to retest.
• Approved a resolution for funding for LSA Statewide — digital radios.
• Reappointed Harold Henry to a five-year term on the zoning hearing board; Scott Wingert and Robert Strausberger to three-year terms on Shade Tree Commission, with three vacancies available; David Harleman to a five-year term on the Water Authority; and Steve Niehoff to a three-year term on the Property Maintenance Board, with three vacancies available.
• Agreed to host a holiday decorating contest for residents and provide winners with $50 off their electric bill.
