A multi-hour standoff in Parryville on Monday ended with no injuries.
Carbon County Sheriff Dan Zeigler said the incident began at around 3:30 p.m. and was resolved around 10 p.m.
“We had a warrant for an individual, an aggravated assault warrant PSP (Pennsylvania State Police) had filed,” Zeigler said.
“My deputies went to go and serve that warrant and when they did that, they observed someone in the house.”
Zeigler said that at that point, they contacted state police for assistance, and they dispatched their CERT (Community Emergency Response) Team.
“Essentially we treated it as a barricaded subject, just because of the nature of the warrant,” he said. “We gave PSP a call and they came out to assist.”
Zeigler said at some point the decision was made they were going to call in their CERT team, which they did.
“We just kind of handed it off to CERT,” he said. Police took the suspect into custody without further incident.
“There was no threat to the public because we essentially had the house surrounded around the perimeter, and there is no further threat to the public.”
The suspect’s name was not available at press time.
