Turnpike crashes
State police at the Pocono barracks reported the following crashes that occurred on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:
• Bruce P. Ward, 51, of Dickson City, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 10:17 a.m. Dec. 2 at mile marker 67.5 in Washington Township.
Police said the severity of his injuries is unknown. He was transported by personnel from the Northern Valley Ambulance to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township.
Police said he was driving a 2019 Chevrolet C45 southbound when he lost control of it. The vehicle hit an embankment on the right shoulder of the road, rotated and came to rest facing east.
The vehicle had disabling damage.
Ward was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed, according to police.
• Mokonen George, 50, of Upper Darby, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 7:43 a.m. Dec. 2 at mile marker 67.1 in Washington Township.
Police said the severity of his injuries in unknown. He was transported by personnel from the Cetronia Ambulance Corps to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest Campus, Salisbury Township.
Police said he was driving a 2016 Honda Fit northbound when he lost control of it while negotiating a right curve. The car struck an embankment on the right shoulder of the road. It had front-bumper damage.
George was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed, according to police.
• Police said two Freightliner trucks were involved in a crash at 9:13 a.m. Dec. 2 at mile marker 90.5 in Kidder Township. They did not identify the drivers but said the operator of a 2024 rig was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.
Police said that rig hit the concrete divider and was then struck by a 2018 Freightliner.
• Zingyan Kang, 24, of Philadelphia, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 5:20 p.m. Nov. 25 at mile marker 90 in Kidder Township.
Police said the severity of her injuries is unknown. She was transported by personnel from the Lehighton Ambulance Association to the Geinsinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre.
Police said she was driving a 2020 Ford Mustang northbound when it spun out in the rain and hit the concrete barrier.
