Lansford man jailed on rape, other counts
A Lansford man faces rape and related charges for an incident involving a 14-year-old babysitter in his home in May.
Ryan Frawley, 33, of West Ridge Street, was charged with felony rape, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, two counts; corruption of minors; and misdemeanor indecent assault of a person less than 16.
He was arraigned by District Judge Beth Dodson, who set bail at $75,000, and remanded to the Carbon County prison in Nesquehoning.
According to court papers, the teenage girl came to his home to babysit his two small, sleeping children while he ran to the store on May 14.
The girl had babysat the children in the past.
She told police that when Frawley returned from the store she noticed the odor of alcohol on him.
Both she and her mother told police that Frawley was a heavy drinker, and the girl said it was hard to tell when he was drunk, court papers said.
The girl began to leave, and Frawley invited her to play video games and hang out, which they had done in the past, court papers said.
She began to leave, and Frawley asked for a hug, which was normal for her, her family and Frawley, court papers said.
The girl tried to let go of Frawley but he pushed her back onto the couch, pinned her down, held her arms and covered her mouth, according to court papers.
He told her not to make a sound, and then sexually assaulted her, court papers said.
The assault lasted a few minutes and he told her to go the bathroom and clean up, court papers said. He then apologized to her, claiming he was drunk and thought she was his girlfriend, court papers said.
Frawley told her to not tell anyone what happened, and the girl said she didn’t know how to tell her mother about the incident, court papers said.
The mother reported the incident to police in May, and officers later received information from the mother of Frawley’s two small children that he had admitted to having sex with a 14-year-old girl.
Frawley spoke to police in June and told officers that he had been drinking, got intimate with the girl, which led to them having sex for a few minutes, court papers said.
He stopped when realized what he was doing and that it was wrong, according to court papers.
