Pleasant Valley graduate Samantha Merklin recently added to her array of honors with Bloomsburg as part of the Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Atlantic All-Region team.
The D2CCA all-region teams are voted on by sports information directors in their respective regions.
Merklin earned second-team distinction in her second season defending the net for the Huskies. In her two seasons with Bloom, Merklin amassed a record of 19-12-7 with 14.5 shutouts. The shutout mark is the ninth-most among goalkeepers in program history. The senior in her 38 games played with Bloomsburg has made 182 saves at a clip of .847 with a goals against average of .89. In her entire collegiate career — 68 career games — Merklin has made 388 stops, an average of 5.71 per contest in almost 5931 career minutes.
The former Bears standout finished the season with 86 saves in 19 matches for a clip of 4.53 per match, leading to a .811 save percentage and a 1.10 goals against average. The senior ended the season with five individual shutouts. The goalkeeper helped the Huskies to a 10-7-2 record, and the team’s return to the NCAA Championship field for the first time since 2022. Merklin additionally received second-team All-PSAC East honors, and was the PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week twice in 2025.
