Trinity Happenings

First Saturday quiet worship with Holy Communion at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, begins at 4 p.m. Sunday worship with Holy Communion begins at 9:30 a.m. Licensed Lay Minister Kathy Long presides. Nativity displays will be shown during Coffeehouse fellowship in Luther Hall on Sunday starting at 10:30 a.m.

Sunday Church School for students ages 3 through grade 6 plus confirmation classes for those in grades 7-8 will begin at 10:45 a.m.

Church initiatives:

The Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesdays (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting. Residents who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive supplemental food. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pick up. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.

The Trinity Thrift Store hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesdays; and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays. Cash only sales. Household goods and clothing donations will be accepted during store hours. There is a five bag limit. Use door 2 to bring clothing inside.

Looking ahead:.

• Free movie night: Dec. 13, 7 p.m. The movie is “Elf,” starring Will Ferrell. No admission fee; enter doors on Iron Street. Hot dogs, popcorn, drinks, snacks will be available for purchase. Proceeds benefit projects of the Youth Group.

• A Christmas Recital to be presented by organist Alex Haggerty “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” Dec. 19, 6:30 p.m. A variety of Christmas music with solo and sing-a-longs are featured. Wear an “ugly” sweater or holiday pajamas for fun. Refreshments will be served before the music starts. A free-will offering will be received to benefit the Trinity Pantry.

• Christmas Eve worship with Holy Communion is announced. It includes a 4 p.m. family worship with children’s sermon with candlelight, and a 7 p.m. traditional candlelight service.

Christ Evangelical

Christ Evangelical Free Church, 2420 Blakeslee Blvd., Dr., West in Lehighton holds worship service beginning at 10 a.m. Sunday. Sunday School for children and youth is also held every Sunday except the first Sunday of the month at 10:30 a.m.

Ministries during the week:

Sister Chix, a support group for widows and divorced women, is held the last Sunday of each month at noon. Bring a lunch, but dessert will be provided. To attend, call 570-386-4547. Enter through the lower parking lot entrance.

ESL classes are held at 6:30 p.m. every Monday. To register, call the church office. Enter through the upper parking lot.

Ladies’ Bible Study at 7 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. Friday. Study is called Giving God Your Future; a Women of Faith study. Lower parking lot entrance.

Men’s Bible workshop is the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. Lower parking lot entrance.

Prayer Shawl Ministry is held the second Saturday of the month from 9-11 a.m.

A Food Pantry takes place the third Saturday of the month from 9 a.m.-noon. Lower parking lot entrance.
