Eldred Township supervisors

Eldred Township supervisors approved or discussed the following recently:

• Approved the destruction of records from 2016 to 2017. These records include payroll, treasurer’s reports, and financial receipts. Ann Velopolcek, the township secretary, said the supervisors passed a resolution in 2016 allowing for the destruction of these items.

• Approved using a new electricity broker. They opted for a nine-month contract with Dynegy Services for 0.10569 cents per kilowatt hour. Rates are anticipated to go down in 2026, so they didn’t want to lock the township into a long contract.

• Decided to submit an application for the Pennsylvania Intergovernmental Risk Management Association grant for $5,000 to cover the cost of fencing around the generator and propane tanks.

• The township was awarded this grant last year and was used to purchase three automatic defibrillator units for the municipal building, the community center and the public works truck, in case there is an emergency while they are on the road.
