Christmas sale benefits food pantry

Christmas lovers loved the Annual Christmas sale at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Third and Iron streets, Lehighton.

The sale featured thousands of Christmas-themed items, such as Christmas lights, ornaments, Santa figurines, table linens, dish sets, glassware, and so much more.

Kay Patterson runs the Trinity Thrift Store.

“We have everything from soup to nuts,” she explained. “This is our 19th year of doing this. All items are donated by families here in Lehighton. We have trees, we have clothing, we have decorations, we have toys. You name it, we have it.”

All proceeds from this Christmas sale will go to the Trinity Food Pantry.

“Friday we made $5,000 for the pantry,” Patterson said. “The pantry needs the money. More and more people are coming to use the services of the pantry, and the state and federal governments have not come through with money.”

The Trinity Food Pantry helps approximately 1,000 families each month. The pantry is open every from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, and it’s drive-up. People do not need to pre-register, but they need to show a borough bill or some proof of residence within the Lehighton Area School District, which is a requirement to receive aid from the pantry.

The Christmas sale will continue from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday in the hall next to the church building on Iron Street.
