NOVEMBER 29, 1983

The 100th anniversary of Christ Lutheran Church, Christmans, Penn Forest Township, will come to a close with a joy-filled worship service to honor the occasion.

The guest sermonist will be the Rev. Harold G. Deisher, who served the congregation for much of World War II.

Church history shows worshippers attended the first worship service in the new church sometime in 1883. Ten years later, one regular monthly service continued to be held, with as many as 125 church members having commuted there.

The parish actually had its origin in 1870 when a band of believers gathered in homes and in the public school house for worship services.

The church’s current pastor is the Rev. Dennis L. Ulrich, who began his ministry there in 1980.
