Concerts

• Ecumenical Christmas Cantata: Singers from about 25 area churches and vocal groups will unite at 7:30 p.m. Sunday to present the annual cantata at Zion United Church of Christ, Second and Iron streets, Lehighton. The program is offered under the musical direction of Bradly R. Cressley, director of music at Zion UCC. Featured work is “His Name Is Jesus” by Dennis and Nan Allen.

• Lehighton Band, annual Christmas Concert at 2 p.m. Dec. 6, at the Lehighton Boys and Girls Band Hall, 197 N. Sixth St., Lehighton. Tickets may be purchased from any band member or at Carbon County Music and More, 197 N. Sixth St., Lehighton.

• Ben Salem Church, 1965 Church Hill Road, Lehighton. Free handbell concert, 2 p.m. Dec. 7; Senior Choir Canata, 10:15 a.m. Dec. 14.

• Winter Christmas Concert, 3 to 5 p.m. Dec. 6, United Presbyterian Church, 6750 State Route 873, Slatington, Valley Voices Chorale, a Community Choir. Free will offering will be accepted. Contact: Anna Mary Milot 610-767-8337.

• The Lehighton Boys and Girls Band — one of the region’s longest-standing youth musical organizations — will present its annual Christmas Concert at 2 p.m. Dec. 13 at the historic Boys and Girls Band Hall, 197 N. Sixth St. (Sixth and Cypress streets) in Lehighton.

Events

• 🎅Breakfast with Santa, sponsored by Northern Lehigh Educational Foundation, 8-11 a.m., Peters Elementary School, Christmas stories and Make & Take crafts, unlimited photos with Santa (don’t forget your camera!) and asket raffle. • Breakfast with Santa, Sunday, Dec. 7, at the Albrightsville Fire Co., 2454 State Route 534, Albrightsville. Bring your children and grandchildren and a camera and have a picture taken with Santa. Each child will be given a gift.

• Basket raffle, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 7 at Char-Will Kennels, 2 East Railroad Ave., New Ringgold. Food, drinks and bake sale.

• Pictures with Santa, Dec. 7; Baskets will be drawn on Dec. 7. Attendance is not required. Benefits Char-Wills German Shepherd Rescue.

• Homemade Christmas Cookie Sale, Ben Salem Church, 1965 Church Hill Road, Lehighton, 9 a.m.- noon Dec. 13.

• Chestnuthill Township will be holding a Sensory Santa on Dec. 9 from 3-7 p.m. in the park building. Registration is required. On Dec. 20, Santa will make another visit to the park, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

• Second annual Candy Cane Hunt, Jan. 1, Beltzville State Park, Presented by the Friends of Beltzville State Park. Children ages 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12 are invited to participate in age-appropriate hunts for candy canes hidden around the park. Meet near the playground in Parking Lot B. Sign-In begins at noon. Hunt begins at 12:30 p.m. Bring a bag for collecting candy canes.

Light displays

• Stoney Ridge Lights, Christmas light show featuring over 250,000 synchronized lights at Becky’s Drive-In, nightly through Dec. 30, 30 minute shows. 4548 Lehigh Dr, Walnutport. beckysholidayspectacular.com

• Lehigh Valley Zoo, Winter Light Spectacular, 1 million lights, classic holiday scenes, photo opportunities, cozy fire pits,🍫 hot chocolate and s’mores, photos with Santa, through Jan. 3. 5150 Game Preserve Road, Schnecksville.

• Lights in the Parkway, The 29th annual Lights in the Parkway drive-through display through Jan. 6. Closed on holidays. The event transforms over a mile of Lehigh Parkway into a winter wonderland with thousands of dazzling lights. Ticket proceeds benefit local non-profit organizations. Move it Mondays at Lights in the Parkway where people are invited to walk, run or bike through the lights from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Mondays to include an additional walking day Jan. 6th. 1680 Park Dr, Allentown. www.allentownpa.gov/litp

Shopping

• Nicks Lake House, 20 South Lake Drive, Lake Harmony, annual Christmas shopping event, noon-4 p.m. Saturday. It’s also Small Business Saturday. Come out and support the local small businesses. Tricky tray to benefit St. Peter the Fisherman Food Pantry.

• Christmas sale: Today and Monday and Tuesday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Trinity Thrift Store, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, indoor and outdoor decor, lights, new gifts, jewelry, knickknacks, candles, angels; cash only.

• Community Christmas event: Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 500 Church Drive, Palmerton. On Dec. 14, parents can shop for free stocking stuffers for their children during a free community Christmas event. Stocking stuffers will include toys, personal items, snacks and crafts. Parents can choose two of each item for their children ages 2-10. The church will also be giving those parents a dozen holiday cookies. Families can also register to win a free Christmas ham or turkey. Free gift wrapping for up to five gifts. There will also be Support Our Troops Christmas cards available to sign.

Toy drives

LaRose’s Skating Rink: Toy drive during open skate sessions. Donate a new toy (minimum $5 value) during any open skate session through Dec. 6.

Each donation earns a voucher for a free slice of pizza and a soda to use that night. LaRose’s Skating Rink is located at 2800 Interchange Road, Route 209, Lehighton.

• Battlefield Pro-Wrestling: Teddy Bear Toss. Bring a new stuffed animal at 5 p.m. Sunday for the anniversary show and help us ill the ring at the Signature Event Center, 37 Erin Lane, Brodheadsville. All teddy bears will be donated to local fire companies, EMS, police and hospitals for distribution to children in emergency situations.

Tree lightings

• Jim Thorpe Community Tree Lighting Ceremony, Friday, Dec. 5. Event begins at 5:30 p.m. in Josiah White Park for festive music and cheer provided by the Jim Thorpe High School Chorus, Band and Cheer Squad. Santa arrives at 6 p.m. on the Jim Thorpe Trolley to light the Christmas tree

• Lehighton Trees in the Park, 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7.

• Nesquehoning’s Christmas on the Hill is Saturday, Dec. 6.

• Palmerton Christmas in the Park, noon-5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6

• Polk Township, Dec. 7 at 4 p.m. near the Veterans Memorial on Route 209.

• Penn Forest Recreation Park, 5 p.m. today. Santa arrives at 5:30. Location: 1336 State Route 903, Jim Thorpe.

• Ross Township Christmas Celebration will take place at 6 p.m. on Dec. 13. The event will feature a tree lighting ceremony and a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, arriving by firetruck.

• Summit Hill, “Christmas on the Hill,” which features Santa’s visit, free trolley rides and other activities will occur beginning at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14 in Ludlow Park. Trolley rides will begin at 5 p.m. and Santa is scheduled to arrive via a firetruck about 6 p.m. The trolley rides are sponsored by the borough’s American Legion Post and are provided free.

• Slatington Christmas tree lighting, 5:30-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5 (Slatington Trailhead (89 Main St.)

• Tamaqua, .m., Dec. 5, Depot Square Park, tree lighting as part of the Tamaqua Spirit of Christmas Festival.

• Walnutport tree lighting 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6.
