State police at Frackville - crashes
State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following crashes:
• No one was hurt in a one-vehicle crash at 9:35 a.m. Nov. 18 on the Burma Road in Mahanoy Township.
Police said the crash occurred as Taquna L. Clentscale, 30, of Philadelphia, was operating a 2016 Freightliner west on Morea Road when he lost control of it while attempting to make a left turn onto the Burma Road. The rig rolled over onto the southbound shoulder of the road.
It had disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
Clentscale was cited for careless driving, according to police.
• Jessica Hernandez Diaz, 23, of Hazleton, had suspected serious injuries after a one-vehicle crash at 6:14 p.m. on Interstate 81 in Ryan Township.
Police said she was transported by personnel from the Ryan Township Emergency & Rescue Squad to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-East, Pottsville.
She was driving a 2011 Nissan Rogue southbound when it struck a deer, traveled onto the right shoulder of the road and overturned, police said.
Hernandez Diaz had to be extricated from the vehicle by mechanical means.
• Jeffrey P. Kulsa, 61, of Hazle Township, was uninjured when the vehicle he was driving struck a deer on the Morea Road in Mahanoy Township at 6:28 a.m. Nov. 10.
Police said he was westbound in a 2020 Toyota 4Runner when the incident occurred.
The vehicle was towed from the scene.
• Julio Cesar Acevedo, 76, of Hazleton, was uninjured when the vehicle he was driving struck a deer on Claremont Avenue (Route 309) in Rush Township (Hometown) at 7:48 p.m. Nov. 17.
Police said he was driving a 2018 Honda CRV southbound when the incident occurred.
The vehicle was towed from the scene.
• No one was hurt in a three-vehicle crash at 6:05 p.m. Nov. 20 on Interstate 81 in Ryan Township.
Police said the crash occurred when an unidentified vehicle traveling north cut off the roadway to use an emergency crossover. They said a 2013 Ford F-150 driven by Julienni Pujols Arias, 17, of Hazleton, was traveling behind the vehicle and as she applied her brakes to avoid striking it, the F-150 was hit from behind by a 2009 Acura driven by Steven J. Baker, 20, of East Stroudsburg.
Police said the Acura was towed from the scene, while the F-150 was able to be driven from it.
• Howell J. David, 79, of Barnesville, was injured after a two-vehicle crash at 7:26 p.m. Nov. 16 on Claremont Avenue (Route 309) in Rush Township (Hometown).
Police said he was flown by helicopter to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem.
They said he was driving one of the vehicles while the driver of the second vehicle, Alexis D. Feronti, 34, of Berwick, and a passenger, a 9-year-old girl from Berwick, had “possible injuries” and were transported by personnel from the Ryan Township Emergency & Rescue Squad to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Miners Campus, Coaldale.
Police said the crash occurred when Davis was driving a 2010 Toyota Tacoma southbound and attempted to make a left turn onto Pine Avenue, crossing into the path of a 2015 BMW operated by Feronti. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
• Two people had suspected minor injuries after a one-vehicle crash at 1:28 p.m. Nov. 21 on the Burma Road in Blythe Township.
Police said Jayden M. Valentine, 18, of Pottsville, and a 17-year-old boy from Frackville were transported by personnel from the Pottsville/Schuylkill Haven Area EMS corps to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-East, Pottsville.
They said the crash occurred as Valentine was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze northeast when he lost control of it while negotiating a right curve in the road. The car traveled onto the right shoulder and struck a small ditch, then hit several large rocks before overturning onto it roof.
Police said Valentine and the boy were able to get out of the vehicle.
The car was towed from the scene.
Valentine was cited after the crash, according to police.
• Mark L. Jordan, 72, of Pottsville, had suspected serious injuries after a motorcycle crash at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 21 on High Road in Cass Township.
Police said he was transported by personnel from the Minersville EMS corps to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
They said he was operating a 2007 Harley-Davidson that failed to negotiate a left curve in the roadway and slid sideways onto the road surface before coming to rest on the road. The motorcycle was removed from the scene.
