A Monroe County woman is dead after her home caught fire Thursday afternoon.
Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department Chief of Police Chris Wagner said officers were dispatched at 5:39 p.m. to a home at 2017 Locust Ridge Road, Pocono Lake, for a report of a residential structure fire.
Officers arrived on scene along with Thornhurst Volunteer Fire Company, Coolbaugh Township Volunteer Fire Company, and other assisting fire agencies.
Due to wind and other factors, the fire consumed the roof, which caused the first floor, second floor, and roof to collapse in on itself.
Through interviews with family members, it was determined Stephanie Selecky-Banfield, 58, was the sole occupant of the residence.
Emergency services were able to recover Selecky-Banfield’s remains.
Selecky-Banfield was pronounced deceased on scene.
Selecky-Banfield was released to the Monroe County Coroner’s Office.
The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation.
No criminal conduct is suspected at this time.
