Trinity Happenings

Sunday worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. 3rd St., Lehighton begins at 9:30 a.m. Included in this time is Service of Healing and Blessing of Prayer Shawls. Licensed Lay Minister Kathy Long presides. Congregational fellowship follows the worship service in the narthex.

The Service of Healing with prayers are said for those to help ease one’s emotional, physical and spiritual burdens to assist and cope with daily living. Prayer shawls are handmade by volunteers, and are to be used in times of joy or sorrow and ordinary times as a form of comfort during daily faith practices. The prayer shawls are available at no cost and may serve as a gift to a loved one.

Church initiatives:

The Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays (and third Tuesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting. Residents who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive supplemental food. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pick up. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.

Trinity Thrift Store will be closed today, Thursday and Saturday due to the Christmas sale.

• Trinity Thrift Store Christmas Sale in Luther Hall is Nov. 28-29 and Dec. 1-2, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Featured items include indoor and outdoor decorations, cards, knick knacks, toys, more. Cash only. Please use the Iron Street entrance.

• Nativity Display is Dec. 7, 9:30 a.m.-noon in Luther Hall. For those desiring to show your personal Nativity, please reserve your spot by contacting the church office in advance with a brief description of it. Set up for the display is Dec. 6 from 3-5 p.m., or Dec. 7 before the 9:30 a.m. worship service. All are welcome. Take home your display following coffee fellowship at 12:30 p.m.

• Free movie night: Dec. 13, 7 p.m. The movie is “Elf,” starring Will Ferrell. No admission fee Enter doors on Iron St. Hot Dogs, Popcorn, drinks, snacks will be available for purchase. Proceeds benefit projects of the Youth Group.

Christ Evangelical

Christ Evangelical Free Church, 2420 Blakeslee Blvd., Dr., West in Lehighton holds worship service beginning at 10 a.m. Sunday. Sunday School for children and youth is also held every Sunday except the first Sunday of the month at 10:30 a.m.

Ministries during the week:

Sister Chix, a support group for widows and divorced women, is held the last Sunday of each month at noon. Bring a lunch, but dessert will be provided. To attend, call 570-386-4547. Enter through the lower parking lot entrance.

ESL classes are held at 6:30 p.m. every Monday. To register, call the church office. Enter through the upper parking lot.

Ladies’ Bible Study starting Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. for the Tuesday study and Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. for the Friday study. Study is called Giving God Your Future; a Women of Faith study. Lower parking lot entrance.

Men’s Bible workshop is the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. Lower parking lot entrance.

Prayer Shawl Ministry is held the second Saturday of the month from 9 to 11 a.m.
