Chestnuthill proposed budget keeps taxes same

Chestnuthill Township’s 2026 budget is available for review.

The document is on the township website but a hard copy can be obtained from the township.

There is no proposed tax increase for 2026 in the township’s $11.4 million spending plan, which has a millage rate of 2.66. The budget is expected to be adopted in December.

Other business at the recent meeting:

• Northeast Site Contractors will receive payment two in the amount of $117,885.31 and another $19,171.91 conditional upon engineer Chris McDermott’s review for this last payment. It is for the sidewalks on the old firehouse side of the Emergency Services Facility.

• The supervisors authorized submitting the application for a $200,000 Local Share Account grant for sidewalks along the Emergency Services Facility. That part of the sidewalk will go from the firehouse entrance to St. Luke’s.

• The Emergency Operations Center agreement with Jackson, Polk and Ross townships has been approved. The township is hopeful that Eldred will also approve of the agreement.

• The West End Fire Company reported 58 calls for the month of October, with a year-to-date of 426 calls.

• Authorization was given to sell the 1997 GMC C8500 truck, which has 83,272 miles on it.

• Requested repository lot releases were approved for Taylor Snyder for Apple Tree Lane and Donalds Road. Requested repository lot release and lot joinder for Jacquelyn Avery for Bracts Road was approved.

• The township will be holding a Sensory Santa on Dec. 9 from 3-7 p.m. in the park building. Registration is required. On Dec. 20, Santa will make another visit to the park, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

• Mike McMurtry thanked Supervisor Chuck Gould and Zoning and Planning Director Matt Neeb for attending the Veterans Day celebration at the American Legion.
