Area football talent takes spotlight
The Colonial League Football Coaches Association released its 2025 All-League Teams this week, and athletes from Jim Thorpe, Lehighton, Palmerton, Northwestern Lehigh and Northern Lehigh were featured prominently across both divisions.
Tigers headline
Red Division awards
Fresh off fourth-straight District 11 title, Northwestern Lehigh led the way locally with both volume and star power. Senior Shane Hulmes was voted the Red Division Defensive Player of the Year, earning first-team honors at tight end and inside linebacker. Hulmes anchored a Tigers squad that once again fielded one of the league’s most physical defensive fronts.
Northwestern filled the Red Division’s first team with playmakers. Senior quarterback Shane Leh, running back Braxton Lakatosh, and multipurpose threat Mason Bollinger were all first-team choices, as was junior fullback/H-back Brady Zimmerman, who continued to establish himself as one of the division’s most versatile two-way athletes. Senior receiver Michael Lagowy also earned a first-team spot after a breakout year in the passing game.
In the trenches, the Tigers dominated selections: senior tackle Colton Popp, sophomore guard Devin Rex, and tight end Hulmes were all first-team offensive choices. Defensively, Northwestern added first-team nods for senior end MJ Boring, senior tackle Popp, and Second Team honors for sophomore tackle Fritz Scheirer, while Leh and Lagowy (defensive back) and Zimmerman (outside linebacker) also earned defensive honors.
Lehighton places several
key contributors
Lehighton saw a strong showing in the Red Division as well. Senior receiver Blake Roberts — one of the most productive wideouts in the area — earned a first-team spot, while classmate Caden Meek joined him on the second team.
Junior Lukas Croizier was recognized on both sides of the ball, earning second-team honors at running back, and first-team recognition at defensive back after a standout two-way season. Defensively, the Indians also placed Zayden Martinez (DE) and Preston DiGrazia (LB) on the second team, continuing a recent pattern of young defensive talent emerging for the program.
Jim Thorpe earns
Red Division recognition
Jim Thorpe was also well-represented, highlighted by senior Cole Lazorick, who earned a Red Division second-team selection at quarterback.
On defense, junior Gavin Baker (DT) and senior Josh Louk (DB) both picked up second-team honors, giving the Olympians a trio of all-league selections across multiple position groups.
Palmerton’s Anthony sweeps major White Division awards
In the White Division, Palmerton senior Logan Anthony delivered one of the most impressive individual hauls in league history. Anthony was named Co-Defensive Player of the Year and Lineman of the Year, and was also a first-team pick at defensive tackle and guard.
The Blue Bombers also placed senior Alex Keiper on the second team at defensive back.
Northern Lehigh strong across both sides of the ball
Northern Lehigh produced one of the most balanced all-league classes in the White Division. Junior lineman Landen Klimek earned first-team honors on offense at guard and received a second-team nod at defensive tackle, underscoring his impact in the trenches.
Senior Grady Newhard (H-back) and junior Chris Frame — honored as a second-team athlete on offense and a second-team defensive back — also represented the Bulldogs. Junior Bill Slattery (DE), senior Kaden Quinones (OLB), and junior Colin Karetsky (DB) rounded out Northern Lehigh’s selections.
