Nesquehoning Borough Council

Nesquehoning Borough Council acted on or discussed the following items during its monthly meeting last week.

• Approved increasing the annual stipend for each of the three fire departments in the borough to $3,500.

• Announced that they have not yet received any applications for the open police officer position, noting that the deadline is Nov. 30.

Council said that if no applications are received, the deadline could be extended.

• Councilman Bruce Nalesnik announced that winter parking signs will be going up in the borough as time permits.

• Approved a motion to authorize ARRO Consulting to recalculate the borough tapping/EDU fee; as well as prepare sanitary/sewer rules, regulations and standard details. It was noted these have not been updated since the early 1990s.

• Approved the short-term rental application for 2026.
