Marian selects Alloy5 for facilities plan

Marian High School announces the selection of Alloy5 Architects, based in Bethlehem, as its design partner to complete the school’s first-ever Campus Master Facilities Plan — a bold step forward in reimagining Catholic education for families across Schuylkill, Carbon and Luzerne counties.

The Campus Master Facilities Plan will serve as a road map for Marian’s next 75 years, ensuring that its facilities continue to reflect the excellence, faith, and community spirit that define the “Marian Family.”

Alloy5, a firm with deep experience in educational campus planning and design, will partner with Marian’s school leadership, board of directors and the facilities committee to develop a comprehensive plan addressing current needs, future growth, and campus enhancements aligned with the school’s mission.

“This is a milestone moment in Marian’s history,” said The Rev. Robert Finlan, principal of Marian Catholic High School.

“For 70 years, Marian has provided a faith-based education rooted in tradition and excellence,” he said. This partnership with Alloy5 is a visionary step to secure our school’s future for another 75 years.

“We are deeply grateful for the leadership of our board of directors, under the direction of board Chair Dave Bielen ’69, whose forward-thinking commitment made this possible.”

The selection of Alloy5 followed a competitive request for proposals process managed by Marian’s facilities committee. The process emphasized campus safety, accessibility, modernization and the ability to preserve Marian’s welcoming, family-oriented environment.

Jim Sauka, facilities committee co-chair, expressed appreciation for the collaboration that made this next step possible: “We are especially grateful to Bob Barton, the newest member of our facilities committee, who stepped forward to manage the RFP process with professionalism and care.

“His leadership helped guide us to an outstanding partner in Alloy5. This plan represents our shared belief that Marian’s physical campus must continue to reflect the excellence of its people and programs.”

Shannon Boyle Pietrak, facilities committee co-chair, highlighted the dedication and passion of the volunteers behind this initiative: “Our facilities committee — made up of 19 alumni, parents, parents of alumni and friends of Marian — truly embodies the Marian spirit.

“They love this school, and they’ve worked tirelessly to imagine how our campus can best serve today’s students and generations to come. We’re excited to collaborate with Alloy5 to bring that vision to life.”

Michael Metzger, president of Alloy5, shared their enthusiasm for the project.

“We are honored to partner with Marian High School on this important planning effort,” he said. “Our goal is to help the Marian community envision a campus that supports its mission of faith, family, and academic excellence for decades to come.”

The project leader from Alloy5 will be Michael Stauffer, a 2010 graduate of Marian.

Alloy5 has worked with other Allentown Diocese Catholic schools including Notre Dame High School and St. Jane Francis De Chantel School in Easton, and Bethlehem Catholic High School and Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Bethlehem.

The planning process is expected to take approximately 12 weeks, with completion anticipated by April 2026.

Throughout that time, Alloy5 will engage students, faculty, alumni, and community stakeholders to ensure the plan reflects the shared values and aspirations of the Marian family.

The final Campus Master Facilities Plan will address key priorities including safety and security, accessibility, modern learning spaces, athletic facility improvements and campus enhancements that strengthen Marian’s community presence.

Founded in 1954, Marian Catholic High School continues its mission to develop students spiritually, morally, academically and socially by integrating the teachings of Jesus Christ within a value-centered curriculum.
