Crusaders donate to Palmerton police
The Palmerton Police Department is the most recent recipient of a contribution from a Palmerton organization.
Crusaders For A Cause Inc. donated a complete fingerprinting system to the department at Thursday’s borough council meeting.
On hand to bestow the system were Crusaders For a Cause representatives Christina Obrecht, president, and Larry Zawaly, treasurer.
In accepting the fingerprinting system, borough police Chief Tim Kromer noted that police Detective Kevin Buck does all the processing.
Kromer said that the department’s current system is 10 to 15 years old, and added that it had gotten to the point where the quality of processing was starting to suffer.
“It’s going to make a big difference; it’s going to make the quality better,” Kromer said. “This system will make an enormous difference for Kevin Buck.”
Kromer said the police department is most grateful to Crusaders For A Cause for the group’s latest donation.
“They’ve supported us for a long time,” he said. “They’ve made a lot of (donations to the police department).”
Mayor Don Herrmann also thanked Crusaders For A Cause for the donation as well.
In July 2022, the organization donated patrol rifle optic electronic scopes for the police department’s training rifles.
Obrecht, of Crusaders For a Cause, said that donation was for $1,000, as they cost $500 each.
Additionally, the organization presented the police department with a $200 check for its National Night Out program.
