Calvary Lewistown
Pastor Deb will bring the message at the 11 a.m. Sunday service at Calvary Evangelical Church in Lewistown Valley. Special music will be provided along with singing of hymns giving praise to our creator. Sunday school for all ages is at 9:45 a.m. Sunday is the Harvest Home gathering and presentation to pastor and family. Bring nonperishable food donations. The evening praise and worship will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
There will be no Wednesday evening prayer and share.
The Thanksgiving service will be held at 8 a.m. Nov. 27 at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley.
St. Peter’s — West Penn
The 9 a.m. Sunday service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn will have white gifts. Adult Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m.
On Tuesday, filling orders may be picked up at the south entrance between noon and 5 p.m.
The Thanksgiving eve service will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Christmas poinsettia orders are due on Nov. 30.
Spirit of Christmas
The Tamaqua Historical Society will feature an old time German Christmas Putz (Christmas village) featuring handmade folk art buildings, including some Tamaqua landmarks, an authentic German feather tree with early glass decorations, a Moravian Star decorated Christmas tree, German farm animals, handmade wooden fence and a Lionel standard gadgets train. The display will be available to view during the Tamaqua Spirit of Christmas Festival. The museum will be open Dec. 4 and 5 from 5 to 8 p.m., and Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The society will also have its Hegarty blacksmith shop and Tamaqua wagon works museums open for the festival,
Tamaqua Seniors
The Tamaqua Senior citizens met on Nov. 13 with 26 members in attendance.
President Jean Machamer opened the meeting. A member read the invocation, “Real Thanksgiving.”
The group thanked a member for a donation to the club. A member will buy pizza on Dec. 4.
The Christmas party was scheduled for today at noon with catering by Hess Catering of Schuylkill Haven.
On Dec. 11, the group will exchange gifts and certificates. Members are asked to bring an item valued at $10.
Bingo was played. The group wished all a blessed and healthy Thanksgiving.
Zion Lewistown
Zion Men will meet at 8 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Hall.
Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.
“The Chosen” will be shown at 2 p.m. Sunday.
