Eight new directors were named to the newly-formed Pohopoco Creek Watershed Association during a steering committee meeting held in the Gilbert Hall, Gilbert.
They are Norman Strohl and Stanley Simpson, both of Lehighton R.3; William James of Palmerton R.2; Eugene Biledau Jr. of Effort; James M. Kerr of Chester, New Jersey, who is a resident in the watershed area; Elmer Kreger of Gilbert; John Wargo of Star Route, Jim Thorpe; and Robert McCombs of Lehighton R.1.
The committee is interested in watershed control of the Beltzville Dam and is comprised of representatives from seven townships, as well as 17 developers and the Lehighton and Bethlehem water authorities. Its objective is to promote conservation of the natural resources of the Pohopoco Creek Watershed.
